UniPress Software was an American software company best known for commercializing UniPress Emacs, a version of the influential Emacs text editor developed from James Gosling’s work. The company began distributing UniPress Emacs commercially in 1983 and later developed and sold programming tools, text editors and business software for Unix, VMS and other systems. Based in Edison, New Jersey, UniPress also developed IT service-management products. In 2006, the company was acquired by Numara Software, with its technology and operations integrated into Numara’s business.
