Absolut Vodka is a Swedish vodka brand with origins dating to 1879, when Lars Olsson Smith introduced a continuous distillation process and produced Absolut Rent Brännvin. The modern Absolut Vodka brand was launched in 1979 and is produced in and around Åhus in southern Sweden using Swedish winter wheat and local water. Known for its distinctive bottle design and creative advertising, Absolut became an internationally recognized premium vodka. Since 2008, the brand has been part of the French Pernod Ricard Group and is sold in more than 140 markets worldwide.
