Bus Éireann is Ireland's national bus and coach operator and a subsidiary of Córas Iompair Éireann. Established in 1987 under the Transport (Re-Organisation of Córas Iompair Éireann) Act 1986, it provides an extensive network of intercity, regional, commuter, town and city bus services throughout the Republic of Ireland, while Dublin's main city bus network is operated by sister company Dublin Bus. Bus Éireann also manages the national School Transport Scheme on behalf of the Department of Education. The company continues to expand its network and invest in modern, lower-emission buses.
