About the brand ❤️
Adobe PostScript is a pioneering page description language (PDL) and programming language for defining text and graphics on printed pages. Developed in the early 1980s by Adobe Inc. based on earlier research at Xerox PARC, it was first released in 1984 and became the foundation of the desktop publishing revolution. PostScript allows precise description of page layouts — positioning text, shapes, color and vector graphics — independent of specific hardware, which made it ideal for laser printers and professional publishing equipment. Its adoption by Apple’s LaserWriter printers helped establish a new era of high-quality document output. While modern workflows increasingly use PDF (which evolved from PostScript concepts), PostScript remains influential in printing technology and is still licensed for professional printing systems.
