About the brand ❤️
Air Åland was a regional airline based in Mariehamn on the Åland Islands, created to ensure affordable and reliable air connections between Åland, mainland Finland and Sweden. Established in 2005 (originally as Flyg & Far Åland), it began scheduled flights from Mariehamn Airport on 29 October 2005. The airline operated routes to Helsinki and Stockholm, using a small fleet of Saab 340 aircraft, though flight operations themselves were outsourced to partner air operators rather than conducted under its own AOC. Its aim was to support Åland's connectivity — important for its remote island economy — by offering competitive fares and maintaining essential links. On 1 July 2012, the airline transferred its routes and operations to Swedish carrier NextJet, ending its own flight activities.
