About the brand ❤️
Air Berlin was once Germany’s second-largest airline, founded in 1978 to serve charter flights based out of West Berlin under American registration because of post-World War II airspace restrictions. It re-registered in Germany in 1991 after reunification and grew into a major carrier offering both scheduled and leisure flights, becoming a member of the Oneworld alliance in 2012. Despite its expansion, Air Berlin struggled with profitability and accumulated significant losses. The airline filed for insolvency in August 2017 and officially ceased all flight operations on 27 October 2017, marking the end of nearly four decades of service.
