About the brand ❤️
The All‑American Girls Professional Baseball League was a pioneering U.S. women’s professional baseball league, launched in 1943 by Philip K. Wrigley during World War II to sustain public interest in baseball while many male players served in the military. Headquartered in Chicago at the Wrigley offices, the league offered skilled female athletes a professional platform. Over its twelve-year run, more than 600 women played for its Midwest‑based teams, and at its peak in 1948 the league drew nearly a million fans. The game evolved from an underhand‑pitch softball hybrid into full baseball with overhand pitching and standard baseball rules. Despite its success and cultural impact, shifting social dynamics, the return of men’s baseball after the war, and broadcast competition led to declining attendance. The AAGPBL concluded in 1954 — but left a lasting legacy, inspiring future generations of women athletes and recognition in popular culture.
