Amazon Tap was a portable smart speaker developed by Amazon as part of its Echo lineup. Released in 2016, it combined Bluetooth speaker functionality with the Alexa voice assistant, allowing users to play music, control smart home devices, and access information on the go. Unlike early Echo devices, the Tap was battery-powered and designed for portability, featuring a charging dock and several hours of playback time. Initially, users had to press a button to activate Alexa, though later updates enabled hands-free voice control. Despite its innovative concept, the device had limited adoption and was discontinued in 2018 as Amazon shifted focus to newer Echo products.
