The American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) is a major national non-profit youth soccer association in the United States focused on providing accessible, positive soccer experiences for children. Established in 1964 by a group of soccer enthusiasts in Torrance, California, AYSO promotes participation and development through core philosophies such as Everyone Plays, Balanced Teams, and Positive Coaching. Run primarily by volunteers with support from a small national staff, the organization operates local programs called “Regions” across all 50 U.S. states and in U.S. territories.
