Ampere is a French electric vehicle and software company established by the Renault Group in November 2023 as part of its “Renaulution” strategic plan to accelerate the development of intelligent electric vehicles in Europe. The brand was introduced to combine Renault’s long-standing automotive expertise with agile, tech-oriented operations focused on designing, engineering, and marketing affordable electric cars and advanced automotive software. Ampere leverages Renault’s production ecosystem in France, including industrial facilities such as ElectriCity and Cléon, and aims to democratically expand EV adoption with innovative platforms and sustainable manufacturing practices. Although initially planned as a standalone business with potential IPO ambitions, Renault later announced a reorganisation that will see Ampere’s activities reintegrated into the main group by mid-2026 while maintaining its contributions to EV development and technology.
