About the brand ❤️
Android 8.0–8.1 (Oreo) is the eighth major release of the Android mobile operating system developed by Google LLC, an American technology company headquartered in Mountain View, California. Unveiled in 2017, Oreo marked a continuation of Android’s tradition of dessert‑themed names and introduced key enhancements focused on performance, usability, and efficiency. Highlight features included notification channels, which allowed users finer control over alerts; picture‑in‑picture mode for multitasking video viewing; battery life optimizations using background activity limits; and support for modern technologies such as Bluetooth 5 and Wi‑Fi Aware. Android Go, a lightweight edition tailored for devices with limited memory, also debuted with Oreo to expand Android’s reach to more affordable hardware. Although Google formally ceased security updates for Android 8.0 in early 2021 and for Android 8.1 later that year, Oreo played an important role in shaping subsequent Android versions and remains part of Android’s version history.
