About the brand ❤️
The Appalachian League is a historic U.S. baseball league — founded in 1911 — that today operates as a summer collegiate league affiliated with MLB and USA Baseball. It serves as a development pipeline for rising college players, primarily freshmen and sophomores, who use wooden bats and play a season from June through August. The league encompasses ten clubs located across the Appalachian regions of Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, and Tennessee. Over its many decades, the Appalachian League has evolved through multiple incarnations: it began as a Class D minor league, later became a Rookie‑level league for Minor League Baseball, and in 2021 was restructured into a collegiate summer league to align with changing industry priorities. As part of MLB’s Prospect Development Pipeline, the Appalachian League continues to play an important role in identifying and nurturing young talent, offering them competitive experience and exposure to scouts — while also preserving a long legacy of regional‑based baseball in Appalachian communities.
