Arai Helmet Ltd. (Kabushiki-gaisha Arai Herumetto) is a Japanese company established in 1926 by Hirotake Arai. Originally making hats and textile goods, the business shifted into protective headgear: first safety helmets for industrial workers after WWII, then motorcycle helmets beginning about 1952. Based in Saitama Prefecture, Arai remains a family-owned enterprise led by Michio Arai and his son Akihito. The company is known for high craftsmanship: each helmet is hand-built with complex layered shells, use of proprietary materials, and rigorous safety testing. Arai produces helmets for street use, motorsport, karting, and its products often meet or exceed major safety standards (e.g. Snell, FIA).
