arte Noire is a French coffee brand created in 1978 by René Monnier, a coffee producer and founder of the Grand’Mère brand. It was introduced as a premium 100% Arabica coffee and became known for its intense aroma, distinctive taste and elegant black, white and gold packaging inspired by French luxury codes. The brand pioneered vacuum-packed flexible coffee packaging with a freshness valve and later expanded into ground coffee, beans, instant coffee, pods and capsules. Carte Noire is now part of JDE Peet’s and remains one of France’s best-known coffee brands.
