About the brand ❤️
Club Deportivo Guadalajara, widely known as C.D. Guadalajara or Chivas, is one of Mexico’s most historic and popular professional football clubs, based in the Guadalajara metropolitan area in the state of Jalisco. Founded on 8 May 1906 as Unión Football Club, the team adopted its current name two years later and has been a founding and perennial participant in Mexico’s top division, Liga MX. Chivas is famed for its Mexican-only player policy, traditionally selecting only Mexican nationals for its first team, a unique identity that deepens its cultural connection with supporters nationwide. The club plays home games at Estadio Akron in Zapopan and has won numerous domestic league titles, cup competitions and regional honours. Owned by Grupo Omnilife and led by chairman Amaury Vergara, Guadalajara also operates a respected youth academy that feeds talent into its senior squad. Chivas’ enduring success, passionate fanbase and emblematic red-and-white striped kit make it one of the most recognised symbols of Mexican sport, with intense rivalries — especially with Club América in El Clásico Nacional — and a legacy that stretches well over a century.
