CF Montréal, formerly known as Montreal Impact, is a Canadian professional soccer club based in Montréal, Québec, competing in Major League Soccer (MLS) as part of the Eastern Conference. Founded in 1992 by the Saputo family, the club began play in lower-division North American leagues before earning an MLS expansion franchise that debuted in 2012. Owned by the Saputo family, CF Montréal plays home games at Stade Saputo and has become one of Canada’s most established soccer teams. The club’s identity was refreshed in 2021, transitioning from Montreal Impact to CF Montréal to better reflect the city’s culture and bilingual heritage. Over its history, the team has won multiple Canadian Championships and competed in continental tournaments, fostering a passionate supporter base and contributing significantly to soccer’s growth in Quebec and Canada.
