Chicago Fire FC is a professional soccer club based in Chicago, Illinois, United States, competing in Major League Soccer (MLS) as a member of the Eastern Conference. Founded on October 8, 1997 — the anniversary of the historic Great Chicago Fire — the team began play in 1998 as one of MLS’s early expansion franchises. The Fire quickly made an impact by winning both the MLS Cup and the U.S. Open Cup in their inaugural season, and they have captured several domestic trophies over the years. Home matches are played at Soldier Field, a landmark stadium shared with the NFL’s Chicago Bears.
