About the brand ❤️
FileZilla is a free, open-source file transfer application and server software that facilitates uploading, downloading and managing files between a local computer and remote servers. Launched in 2001 by Tim Kosse as a student project, it supports multiple protocols including FTP, FTPS (FTP over SSL/TLS) and SFTP, and runs on Windows, macOS and Linux. Known for its robust features such as large file (> 4 GB) transfers, tabbed interface, drag-and-drop and directory comparison, FileZilla is widely used by web developers and system administrators. While its core remains freely licensed under the GNU GPL, the project also offers “Pro” versions with additional cloud-storage integrations, reflecting its evolution into a broader file-management tool.
