Established in 1999, it grew through acquisitions and became one of North America’s largest providers of school transportation. The company operates a large fleet of school buses and provides daily routes, transportation for students with special needs, field trips and charter services. First Student also invests in electric school buses, safety technology and fleet management systems. In 2021, FirstGroup sold the company to EQT Infrastructure, which remains its owner.
