Future Observatory is a British national research programme focused on using design to support the transition to a sustainable, low-carbon economy. Launched in 2021, it is coordinated by the Design Museum in partnership with the Arts and Humanities Research Council. The programme funds research, supports emerging designers, organizes exhibitions and public events, and publishes studies exploring environmental challenges. Its projects address climate change, waste reduction, alternative materials, sustainable construction and circular economies. By connecting researchers, universities, businesses and policymakers, Future Observatory promotes innovative design solutions for a more sustainable future.
