About the brand ❤️
Germanwings was a German low-cost airline established in 2002 as a subsidiary of Eurowings, which was controlled by Lufthansa. The airline began operations in 2002 and developed a network of affordable flights from Germany to destinations across Europe and the Mediterranean. Its main bases included Cologne/Bonn, Stuttgart, Berlin, and Düsseldorf. Germanwings operated Airbus A319 and A320 aircraft and became an important part of Lufthansa's low-cost strategy. In 2015, its operations were progressively transferred to the newly established Eurowings brand. Germanwings formally ceased operations in 2020, when the COVID-19 crisis accelerated its final integration into Eurowings.
