About the brand ❤️
Google Goggles was an innovative mobile image-recognition and visual search application created by Google that let users search the web using photos taken by their devices. Launched in 2010 for Android and later available through the Google Mobile app on iOS, the app could identify landmarks, products, books, barcodes and other real-world objects by analysing images and querying Google’s databases for matching information. It supported optical character recognition (OCR) for translating printed text and could even solve puzzles like Sudoku from photos. While pioneering at the time, Goggles’ development slowed as more advanced computer vision and AI technologies emerged. In 2017 Google announced Google Lens, a more advanced visual analysis tool, and by August 2018 Google Goggles was officially discontinued, with users encouraged to switch to its modern replacement.
