About the brand ❤️
Hazeltine Corporation was a pioneering American defense electronics and technology company founded in 1924 by Dr. Louis Alan Hazeltine in New York to commercialise his patented Neutrodyne radio technology. Based in Greenlawn, Long Island, Hazeltine became known for innovations in radio circuitry, automatic gain control and components that influenced early broadcast and television systems. During the mid-20th century the company expanded into military electronics and became a significant U.S. federal defense contractor, producing Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) systems and later computer terminals such as the Hazeltine 2000 and 1500 used in emerging microcomputer markets. Hazeltine served government and industry through decades of technological development, especially in defense communications and identification systems. In 1986 the company was acquired by the Emerson Electric Company, ending its independent existence; through a series of subsequent transactions the business and technology units passed into the ownership of BAE Systems, where the legacy continues within modern aerospace and defense electronics divisions. Hazeltine’s contributions spanned foundational broadcast technology to advanced military electronics, reflecting nearly six decades of engineering impact before being absorbed into larger industrial entities.
