Hong Kong Tramways is the historic tram operator serving the northern part of Hong Kong Island. Its origins date to 1901, while regular passenger services began in 1904. The system is famous for its distinctive double-decker trams and is one of Hong Kong’s most recognizable cultural and transport symbols. Hong Kong Tramways operates a fleet of 165 tramcars and carries around 200,000 passengers daily. The network provides an affordable east-west service between Kennedy Town and Shau Kei Wan, with a branch to Happy Valley. It is currently a subsidiary of RATP Dev and continues to operate and maintain the tram system.
