About the brand ❤️
Intel Security was the cybersecurity brand established by Intel Corporation after its acquisition of McAfee Inc., aiming to integrate strong endpoint security capabilities into Intel’s hardware‑plus‑software portfolio. Officially re‑branded in early 2014, the Intel Security name covered McAfee’s legacy antivirus, endpoint protection, cloud security and enterprise security offerings under the Intel umbrella. By leveraging Intel’s hardware‑based security focus and McAfee’s software expertise, the brand sought to deliver a more unified security stack across devices and infrastructures. However, in 2016‑17 Intel spun out the majority of its security division into an independent entity (returning to the McAfee branding), effectively ending the use of “Intel Security” as a standalone enduring brand.
