Magna International is a major Canadian automotive supplier, founded in 1957 by Austrian-Canadian entrepreneur Frank Stronach under the name Multimatic. Headquartered in Aurora, Ontario, the company designs, engineers, tests, and manufactures a wide array of automotive components and systems—everything from seating, exteriors, powertrain, roof systems, electronics, and vehicle assembly. Magna operates in dozens of countries, with hundreds of plants, sales, development and engineering centers worldwide. It is one of the largest auto parts suppliers globally. Magna also owns Magna Steyr in Austria, which produces complete vehicles under contract. The company is publicly traded and continues to expand its role in emerging automotive technologies, including electric vehicles and autonomous driving systems.
