About the brand ❤️
Maktec is a sub-brand of Makita Corporation, developed to offer more affordable power tools under the Makita umbrella. Launched around 1998, Maktec products are typically designed with slightly simplified features compared to Makita’s flagship lines, allowing lower production cost while still maintaining a baseline of quality. The tools are manufactured in Makita’s assembly plants (including in China), using many of Makita’s established design lines but with fewer premium extras. The brand was originally aimed at Asian markets and later expanded into Europe and other regions from about 2003-2004. While still active in many countries, in some markets Maktec has seen reduced availability or discontinued supply (e.g., Russia). Maktec remains positioned as a “value / affordable” option under Makita’s portfolio, popular among users who want decent performance at a lower price point.
