The Masters Tournament is one of the four major championships in professional men’s golf and is held annually at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, Georgia. Created by golf legend Bobby Jones and investment banker Clifford Roberts, the event was first played in 1934 as the Augusta National Invitation Tournament. The name was officially changed to the Masters Tournament in 1939. Unlike the other major championships, the Masters has a permanent venue. It is known for its distinctive traditions, prestigious green jacket, invitation-only field and historic list of champions.
