Matsuya Foods is a Japanese restaurant company best known for its Matsuya beef-bowl and set-meal restaurants. Its history began in 1966, when the first Matsuya Chinese restaurant opened in Nerima, Tokyo. In 1968, the company opened its first restaurant specializing in beef bowls and grilled-meat set meals, establishing the business model that became its core. Matsuya later expanded into tonkatsu, curry, sushi, Chinese cuisine and other food-service businesses. The group operates more than 1,500 outlets in Japan and overseas and continues to expand internationally.
