MLS Direct Kick was an out-of-market television subscription package created by Major League Soccer to broadcast regular-season and playoff matches to viewers outside local team markets. Introduced under its Direct Kick branding in 2005 after previously operating as the MLS/ESPN Shootout Package, the service was distributed through cable and satellite providers including DirecTV, Dish Network, and In Demand. The package allowed fans to watch regional MLS broadcasts that were unavailable in their home areas, helping expand league visibility across North America. MLS Direct Kick was eventually discontinued after the launch of newer streaming-focused broadcasting agreements and digital subscription services.
