MRT Jakarta is Indonesia's modern mass rapid transit operator serving the capital city of Jakarta. The company, officially PT Mass Rapid Transit Jakarta (Perseroda), was established in 2008 as a regionally owned enterprise of the Jakarta provincial government. Its responsibilities include developing, operating and maintaining MRT infrastructure and trains, as well as managing property and commercial activities around stations and depots. The first MRT Jakarta line officially opened in 2019, connecting Lebak Bulus in South Jakarta with the central Jakarta area. The system is being expanded through additional phases to improve urban mobility and reduce traffic congestion.
