About the brand ❤️
Natura was a Spanish thematic pay television channel specializing in nature and environmental documentary programming. Launched on 23 April 1998, it offered around‑the‑clock content centered on ecosystems, biodiversity, cultures, geological and climatic phenomena, and humanity’s relationship with the planet. Originally produced by Teuve (Mediapark) and distributed through platforms like Vía Digital, ONO, Orange TV and Euskaltel, Natura became known for its focus on “Planeta Tierra”‑themed documentaries that combined education and visual storytelling. In 2010 the channel’s ownership shifted to Chello Multicanal and later, as part of corporate consolidation, to AMC Networks International Iberia. After nearly 18 years of broadcasting, Natura ended transmissions on 1 April 2016, with many of its documentary offerings integrated into AMC’s other documentary channel Odisea. The closure reflected evolving viewer habits and consolidation within the pay‑TV documentary market in Spain.
