The New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission is a municipal regulatory agency responsible for licensing and regulating New York City's taxi and for-hire transportation industries. Created in 1971, it oversees yellow and green taxis, black cars, luxury limousines, community-based liveries, commuter vans and paratransit vehicles.
