Nitro was a Spanish television channel aimed primarily at a male audience, owned by Atresmedia. Launched in August 2010, the channel offered a mix of action series, thrillers, crime dramas, sports, and films under themed blocks such as “NitroCine.” Its programming included well‑known international series, reruns from its parent network, and sports broadcasts. Nitro quickly found a niche among adult male viewers and achieved solid audience shares in its target demographic. However, on 6 May 2014 the channel was shut down following a ruling by the Spanish Supreme Court that annulled broadcasting concessions of several digital‑terrestrial channels — Nitro among them.
