The Peabody Awards are American honors recognizing outstanding and impactful storytelling in broadcasting and digital media. Founded in 1940 at the University of Georgia, the awards were named after philanthropist George Foster Peabody and first presented in 1941. They recognize excellence across television, news, documentaries, entertainment, podcasts and radio, arts, children's and youth programming, public service, and interactive media. Winners are selected by an independent Board of Jurors through a unanimous vote. The Peabody Awards remain based at the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia.
