Headquartered in Beijing, it operates two major segments: video games (development, publishing, licensing) and film/television through Perfect World Pictures. It is publicly listed in China and has built a global footprint, including subsidiaries and operations in Europe and North America. The company became well known for publishing and distributing popular online and multiplayer games, often with a focus on free-to-play models. Perfect World has also been the exclusive distributor of Valve games like Dota 2 and Counter-Strike 2 within mainland China. More recently it sold off some Western publishing assets (e.g. Perfect World Entertainment) but continues strong operations in its core markets.
