ReactOS is a free and open-source operating system designed to provide compatibility with Windows applications and drivers. Development began in 1996 as the FreeWin95 project before evolving into ReactOS, with the goal of creating a Windows-compatible system from scratch. ReactOS is not based on Windows or Linux and is developed by an international community of contributors. The project includes its own kernel, drivers, system libraries and desktop environment. It remains under active development, with regular builds, testing and community contributions.
