Sanseitō, formally known as the “Political Participation Party” (参政党) and self-styled as the “Party of Do It Yourself,” is a Japanese right-wing populist party launched in March 2020 by Sōhei Kamiya and collaborators. Headquartered in Tokyo’s Azabudai Hills, it grew rapidly through social media and grassroots organizing to win parliamentary representation by 2022. Known for its nationalist, anti-immigration, and anti-vaccine stances—and for promoting traditional Japanese values—the party emphasizes participatory politics, local engagement, and education reform. It gained widespread attention during the 2025 elections with a significant surge in upper house seats.
