The Serbia national football team is the official men’s soccer team representing Serbia in international competition, governed by the Football Association of Serbia (FSS), based in Belgrade. After the breakup of the union with Montenegro in 2006, Serbia’s team was established as an independent national side and is recognised by FIFA and UEFA as the successor to the teams of Yugoslavia and Serbia and Montenegro. Known as the “Orlovi” (the Eagles), it competes in qualifying and finals tournaments such as the FIFA World Cup and UEFA European Championship, featuring players from top European leagues. The team has participated in multiple World Cups and European Championships, reflecting both a deep footballing heritage from its predecessor states and continued aspirations in global and continental competition. Matches are held primarily in Serbia, with significant fixtures in Belgrade. The FSS continues to develop and support the team’s competitive program at senior and youth levels.
