Strepsils is a well‑known British brand of medicated throat lozenges designed to relieve discomfort caused by sore throats and mouth infections. Originally introduced by Boots Healthcare in 1950 as a mouthwash, the first Strepsils throat lozenges appeared in 1958 and have since become one of the most widely used products of their kind globally. In 2006 the brand was acquired by Reckitt (formerly Reckitt Benckiser), integrating it into a large portfolio of health and hygiene products. Strepsils lozenges typically contain mild antiseptic ingredients such as dichlorobenzyl alcohol and amylmetacresol, and are produced and marketed in many countries with a wide range of flavours and formulations.
