Swix is a Norwegian manufacturer specializing in winter sports equipment such as ski wax, ski poles, and related apparel. The Swix brand was launched in 1946, founded by Börje Gabrielsson, initially in Sweden but later fully relocated its production to Norway. Ownership has been under Ferd AS since 1978. Swix innovated the concept of color-coded ski waxes for different snow types, a practice widely adopted across the industry. Today, Swix continues to operate from Lillehammer and serves global markets, with subsidiaries and distribution in regions including Sweden, Germany, the U.S., and Japan. While the corporate group behind Swix rebranded internally to BRAV in 2018, the consumer-facing Swix name remains in use.
