Telenet Group is a Belgian telecommunications and media company headquartered in Mechelen. Founded in 1996, it developed a major communications network using Belgium's existing cable infrastructure. The group provides broadband internet, digital television, fixed-line and mobile telecommunications, entertainment, and business connectivity services. Its consumer activities operate mainly under the Telenet and BASE brands, while Telenet Business provides connectivity, hosting, security, and related solutions for companies. Telenet became controlled by Liberty Global in 2007 and was taken fully private by Liberty Global in 2023. The group remains an important telecommunications provider in Belgium.
