The club emerged from the merger of Football Club Torinese and a group of dissident players from Juventus, adopting the distinctive maroon colours that earned it the nickname I Granata. Based in Turin, the team plays its home matches at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino and competes in Serie A, Italy’s top football division. Over its long history, Torino has won multiple Italian league titles and Coppa Italia trophies and is especially remembered for the legendary Grande Torino side of the 1940s, whose tragic loss in the Superga air disaster deeply impacted Italian football.
