About the brand ❤️
The UEFA Intertoto Cup was a European summer club football tournament that provided clubs with an additional pathway into continental competition. Initially established in 1961 as the International Football Cup — a competition tied to football lottery pools and played in the offseason — it evolved over decades and came under the official administration of UEFA in 1995. Under UEFA governance, the Intertoto Cup served as a qualifying competition for the UEFA Cup (now the Europa League), offering participating teams the chance to earn spots in European competition via summer fixtures. In its later years, multiple winning teams from the Intertoto Cup advanced to the UEFA Cup qualifying rounds, expanding opportunities for mid-level clubs across Europe. After the 2008 edition, UEFA discontinued the tournament as part of restructuring its club competitions, folding its qualification functions into other UEFA competitions and simplifying the European calendar.
