Unione Sportiva Sassuolo Calcio, commonly called US Sassuolo Calcio or simply Sassuolo, is a professional Italian football club based in Sassuolo, a town in the Emilia-Romagna region of northern Italy. Founded on 17 July 1920, the club’s traditional colours are black and green, which inspire its nickname I Neroverdi (“The Black and Greens”). Sassuolo experienced a long rise through the Italian league system, reaching the top tier, Serie A, for the first time in the 2013-14 season and establishing itself there for many years. The team plays home matches at the Mapei Stadium – Città del Tricolore, a modern venue shared with other local clubs, with a capacity of around 21,500 spectators.
