Uterqüe was launched in 2008 as the premium‐accessories and women’s fashion brand within the Inditex group, headquartered in Tordera, Barcelona. It focused on high-quality materials, leather goods, footwear, bags, scarves and a refined ready-to-wear collection for a more sophisticated female clientele. Over its lifespan it expanded to dozens of countries and built boutique stores with curated interior designs and art-inspired aesthetics. However, by 2021 Inditex decided to close Uterqüe’s standalone stores and integrate the brand into Massimo Dutti, shifting the business to online and multi-brand retail channels, signalling the end of Uterqüe as an independent retail chain while the label continues within the group’s ecosystem.
