The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is the leading global authority dedicated to promoting, coordinating and monitoring the fight against doping in sport. Legally established in Switzerland on 10 November 1999 following international concern about performance-enhancing drug use, WADA operates as an independent foundation jointly supported by the Olympic Movement and governments around the world. Its headquarters are in Montreal, Canada, with additional offices in various regions to support its mission. WADA is responsible for developing and enforcing the World Anti-Doping Code, a unified set of anti-doping rules adopted by hundreds of international sports organisations, federations and national anti-doping bodies. The agency partners with scientists, educators and regulatory authorities to harmonise testing standards, research prohibited substances, educate athletes and safeguard the integrity of sport at all levels.
