Xperia is a Japanese mobile-device brand owned by Sony. The brand was introduced in 2008 with the Xperia X1, initially under the Sony Ericsson joint venture between Sony and Ericsson. Xperia became particularly known for Android smartphones combining high-quality displays, cameras, audio technology and distinctive design. In 2012, Sony acquired Ericsson's remaining 50% stake and renamed the business Sony Mobile Communications, making Xperia a fully Sony-owned smartphone brand. Today, Xperia products include smartphones focused on photography, entertainment, performance and professional video features.
