Actimel is a probiotic yoghurt-type drink brand created by Danone and launched in Europe in 1994. It is built around a proprietary bacterial culture (L. casei Danone) and is marketed as supporting the immune system by including added vitamins such as D and B6. The drink is sold in small 100 ml bottles or multi-packs and is available in more than 20 countries spanning Europe, South America and the Middle East. Actimel has become one of Danone’s major functional food brands, combining dairy nutrition with targeted health claims and innovative marketing.
