The Melbourne Racing Club is one of Australia’s major metropolitan horse racing organizations, based in Melbourne, Victoria. It began life in 1875 as the Victoria Amateur Turf Club, with its first race meeting held in 1876. Over time it evolved into the Melbourne Racing Club, adopting its current name in 2002 after more than a century of racing tradition.
